Bottoms Brent Everett

Kunst Komm

Let's talk about art.
Lately I have dabbled in a search on J ü rgen Klauke , photographer and performer German. It 'an artist in some ways attractive, despite his early works spiazzino much. I think it is the practice for Contemporary Art, a kind of non-comprehension, a lack of communication . If I had to open the brackets of communication, I believe that I would write an essay, and I like to say is that, in my opinion, very often the artists are moving today through the mechanism of Wonder . They want to be surprised at all costs, almost like an affectation of something, whether it was the first show of manual skills, such as the return of a perfect environment in trompe l'oeil, now you want to implement The dramatic gesture . It's not that I'm not feeling well, more than anything I hope that there is something behind certain demonstrations, idea at least (and even this is not obvious in those who feel an artist in this millennium). What is missing to the artists of today, in my opinion, is the inability to differentiate the levels of interpretation of a work. If you look at the art of the past, we think of paintings by great masters such as Caravaggio and Michelangelo, everyone could easily recognize the subject , the learned could understand the meanings of certain symbols or the use of certain colors and even calculate the size of hypothetical structures and architectures, with manuals of mathematics who had had the opportunity to study knew very well (in mathematics and computing were among the disciplines known). In addition, the artist was able to insert their own within a canvas: personal stories, portraits, dedications to loved ones and so on. Clearly this is not true for all artists of any periods they are.
The detour was long.
Klauke is counted among those who are part of the unfolding of Body Art , having done their body the principal subject of performance and photographic subject. Photographing himself to discover the human nature in its forms has always been his goal. In particular, I have observed Masculin / Feminin , on display at the Tower Passari Molfetta .
At first it is automatically say, "Who wants this?". It 's normal, an understandable reaction. I have never felt I did not criticize this question, because part of the problem of communication of contemporary art: to understand something it must be read on the subject.
The idea behind this work is moving on sexual problems, paying attention to the presence of a sort of subcutaneous androgyny of the human . The secret wish an androgynous gender echoed in agreement with the inseparable unity between man and woman. The search for the meaning of marriage, their sexual activity, is found in this unconscious desire.
In these photographs, the artist shows how the desire for continuity in the form of being there before birth and after death, even temporarily during the union of the sexes, after their immersion in the totality of nature. Human existence realizes itself, on the contrary, in a forced break, the difference between the sexes, in the duality of body and soul, being and world, individuality and collectivity. In his photo sequence and its series occupies dell'indistruttibile isolation of the subject and internalization in all of us of a painful certainty.
The work unfolds in 13 photographs in which the two protagonists, the man is obviously the artist, they share many characteristics and different in a few details. The clothing of the two subjects is very similar, and those parts of the body hidden, primary and secondary sexual characters, are treated the same way. The distinction between man and woman becomes difficult due to the lack of hair, the presence of necklaces to adorn both, and gaudy make-up present on both faces. The presence the woman at first glance seems an unnecessary repetition. The work unfolds in a strange hidden behind the veil, but also by the disappearance of a subject after another, as if to demonstrate formal equality and existential .
Despite this, Klauke did not want to give social significance to his work.

My call is to head to the Tower for Passari to see the works of ten artists participating in the current exhibition. Over the weekend, there are some guide that explains everything you need to understand something (I am one of these!).
